Rajvardhan Hangargekar, known for his raw pace, first caught the eyeballs of the cricketing world when he represented India U-19 in the 2022 World Cup that was held in the West Indies.

While Hangargekar took as many as five wickets in the tournament, his batting ability came to light in the game versus Ireland as she smashed three consecutive sixes.

Before this major India U-19 assignment, Hangargekar had made his domestic debut in the 2020-21 season, featuring for Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

In the 2022-23, the 20-year-old was among the highest wicket-takers for his state side, claiming 15 scalps in the eight matches.

Although Chennai Super Kings (CSK) gave him his first Indian Premier League call-up in 2022, he did not get to play a game that year.

However, Hangargekar's wait came to an end as he finally has been handed the debut cap by CSK ahead of the IPL 2023 opener.

In his four-over spell, the speedster took three wickets while conceding 36 runs. His victims include Wriddhiman Saha, Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar.

Interestingly, Hangargekar also emerged as the leading wicket-taker across both the innings in the match.
