Apart from holding the forte well from one end at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Jos Buttler notched a vibrant half-century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). This is Buttler's second successive fifty in the tournament, surpassing Chennai's Ruturaj Gaikwad in the race of the Orange Cap.

The Englishman recently notched up his 18th IPL fifty, apart from amassing five hundreds in the tournament. Earlier in the day, he became the second-fastest man in the history of the league to complete 3000 runs.

Buttler saw CSK bagging three wickets from the other end, but he didn't allow the tempo go south in any phase of the play.

After losing Yashasvi Jaiswal early in the innings, England's white-ball captain stitched an enthralling stand of 77 runs with young Devdutt Padikkal, who got promoted to Number 3 against CSK.

However, against the run of play, Rajasthan saw two of their Royals go back to the hut in a Ravindra Jadeja over. Still, then, Buttler kept his foot on the peddle and got united with local boy Ravi Ashwin, who scored a quickfire 30 but lost his against the CSK debutant Akash Singh.

At the time of writing, the game is in balance with RR are 137-4 in 16 overs, with Buttler accompanied by Shimron Hetmyer.
