On Tuesday, Suryakumar Yadav played a mind-blowing innings for his team Mumbai Indians (MI) , scoring 83 runs in just 35 balls against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match 54 of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Harsha Bhogle, widely known as the voice of cricket, compared Yadav's performance to that of VVS Laxman.

Bhogle has given high recognition to the player and referred to him as the "Laxman of T20 cricket." Bhogle stated that although VVS Laxman's style of batting was unique, Suryakumar's artistry in batting makes him comparable to the former Indian cricket great.

"I will tell you who he reminds me of. Very peculiar and I don't know why - their games are chocolate and cheese but the artistry with which he bats he seems Laxman of T20. When Laxman played T20, I remember once I was on-air and he was slogging and I thought Lata Mangeshkar is singing rock 'n' roll," told Bhogle to Cricbuzz.

Surya is the epitome of effortless cricketing, it is a true delight to watch him do nothing but be himself on the field. Upon winning the Man Of the Match award during a post-match interview SKY said, "I know my game. I don't do anything different."  His exceptional innings yesterday helped MI secure a crucial win, everyone both on and off-field heaped him with praises for this feat.

During the fifth over of the match, Mumbai Indians lost two of their batsmen, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, within three deliveries. Despite this setback, Suryakumar Yadav remained undeterred and went on to score seven fours and six sixes, leading his team to chase down the target in only 16.3 overs.

Mumbai Indians' six-wicket victory in the match allowed them to move up to third place in the IPL 2023 standings. With three league games remaining, Mumbai has a good chance of making it to the playoffs.

They would next be seen playing against the table toppers Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium on 12 May, Friday at 7:30 pm.
