Former SRH Coach Names Most Impactful Performance in IPL 2023

As expected, the biggest T20 carnival, the Indian Premier League, has lit up the cricketing season, amazing the audience with its twists and turns. The first week of the tournament saw spectacular individual performances from several players, which helped their respective teams emerge victorious in hard-fought contests. 

Meanwhile, as we conclude the first week of the tournament, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody has named Mark Wood's fifer as the most impactful performance of the first week in the IPL 2023. 

In a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo, Moody, who has coached SRH and PBKS in the past, picked Wood's stunning five-wicket haul against Delhi Capitals from a number of options. 


Here's what Moody stated

"Mark Wood, because I think it's very rare to see someone bowling at 150 KPH and take a five-wicket haul and particularly given most of the wickets were of top-order players. So, it just blew the game open. So, for me, that was a sensational impact performance from Mark Wood. Moeen Ali, though, a wonderful all-round performance but I think Wood just gave the IPL the fire that it needed."

Wood certainly had an outstanding start to his IPL 2023 campaign, dismantling the Capitals lineup through an incredible bowling spell. Despite being expensive, the ace English speedster showcased his wicket-taking abilities against Chennai Super Kings as well, claiming three crucial scalps. 

Up next, Wood will be in action on Friday, as Lucknow Super Giants will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Lucknow.
