Cricket Scotland, on Friday (October 7) appointed the former private equity investor Anjan Luthra as its new chair as the organization aims to start from scratch after being found 'institutionally racist' by an independent review.

Luthra, who runs a London-based media company, will take up the role with immediate effect and will work for the betterment of the organization. Speaking on his appointment as the chair of Cricket Scotland, here's what the former Scotland player said:

"It is an honour to join Cricket Scotland as chair and I look forward to working with all stakeholders in transforming the organization."

"Cricket has been a major part of my life and I am excited to bring my experience across business, technology, and sport to elevate Scottish cricket domestically and on the international stage."

Luthra further affirmed that he is looking forward to rebuilding the organization in the wake of the ‘Changing the Boundaries’ report into racism in Scottish cricket.

"The Changing the Boundaries report highlighted serious institutional failings and I am committed to implementing the recommendations and findings from the report."

Earlier, the board of Cricket Scotland resigned in July, just ahead of the release of reports on an independent investigation into racism in the Scottish game.

The investigation was triggered after Scotland’s all-time leading wicket-taker, Majid Haq alleged that the Scotland cricket board was “institutionally racist”, while his former teammate Qasim Sheikh backed his allegations, stating he also suffered racist abuse during his career.
