Pakistan captain Babar Azam has opened up on his World Cup ambitions in an exclusive interview with the International Cricket Council

When asked about his ultimate dream, the stylish right-handed batter revealed that he wants to play and win the World Cup for his team.

However, the Lahore-born stressed that winning a tournament like World Cup needs proper planning and expected the Pakistani management to implement the same in the upcoming white-ball fixtures.

Here's what Babar stated

"The ambition is to be a part of World Cup team and to win the tournament. The World Cup is coming up and my ambition is to perform well so that we can win it. You see a lot of things individually too, but my goal right now is to win the World Cup."

"This year we have lot of white ball cricket because of the World Cup...you need to take things step by step. You can’t really jump to your goal. You have to achieve it step by step. The mindset is to go step by step, but yeah you have it in the back for your mind that you need to perform well. But there is hard work and planning behind it."

Babar enjoyed stellar success in ODIs last year, amassing 679 runs at an outstanding average of 84.87 and an impressive strike rate of 90.77.

The batter will be seen next in Pakistan's upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand starting on April 13.
