In a big boost for the career of Ajinkya Rahane, it has been reported that the forgotten Indian star is likely to be included in India's 15-member squad for the WTC finals in June.

As reported by PTI, the team management are considering the inclusion of Ajinkya Rahane in the Indian squad. With Shreyas Iyer ruled out of the WTC finals due to a back injury, India need a reliable batter, someone who has the experince of playing in England conditions.

It has been almost 1.5 years since Rahane last featured for India in a Test match. It was against South Africa during India's away tour that the Mumbai batter donned the white jersey for his nation.

Poor form and the rise of Shreyas Iyer didn't help Rahane's cause, as the 34-year-old batter was axed from the Test squad. However, went back to the domestic circuit and has been performing consistently for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.

A veteran of 82 Test matches, Rahane has amassed 4931 runs, at an average of 38.52, with 12 centuries to his name.

India will play their second WTC finals in a row, and will collide against Australia from June 7-11 at the iconic Kennington Oval, London.
