Rob Walter is the current Head Coach of the 'BLACKCAPS'. He began his tenure in mid-June 2026 and will continue till the ICC T20 World Cup in October-November 2028. 

Walter brings a wealth of international coaching experience, having most recently served as the Head Coach of South Africa.Under his leadership, the Proteas reached the semi-finals of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in India, the semi-finals of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, and made it to the final of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup. 

His contract covers an extensive period in New Zealand cricket. He will guide the team in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship and the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. Under his leadership, NZ will also participate in three major ICC events, that is the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, and the ICC T20 World Cup 2028.
