Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson once again found himself out of the starting XI for the 1st ODI against the West Indies in Barbados as the Indian management opted to pick Ishan Kishan over him.

T20 specialist Suryakumar Yadav, who scored three consecutive golden ducks against Australia earlier this year, was once again picked in the playing XI and was seen donning Samson's shirt.

As is always the case, fans are enraged with Samson's snub from the ODI playing XI and the fact that SKY donned his jersey surprised cricket fanatics around the globe. Some fans even tweeted that it was Samson playing in Yadav's body. 




Samson, who last featured in an ODI in November 2022, has scored 330 runs in 11 games at an average of 66 and a strike rate of 104.76 with the help of 2 50+ scores.

On the other hand, Surya has managed 433 runs in 21 innings at an average of 24.06.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. With Mohammed Siraj rested for the ODI leg, Mukesh Kumar was handed his maiden cap in the format.

At the time of writing, India had reduced the hosts to 45/3 after nine overs, with Hardik Pandya, Mukesh and Shardul Thakur chipping in with a wicket each.
