The stage is set for the 31st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as the hosts Punjab Kings will collide with Kolkata Knight Riders. The two teams started the tournament on a strong note and this contest will feature the return of Shreyas Iyer against his former IPL team.
Punjab Kings captain, Iyer, won the toss and elected to bat first, however, there were several eyebrows raised with his team selection. One of them was the replacement player for the injured Lockie Ferguson.
Who has replaced Lockie Ferguson in playing XI?
Lockie Ferguson pulled his hamstring in the last match against Sunrisers and according to Shreyas Iyer, his participation in the rest of the tournament is in jeopardy. As a result, the Aussie pacer, Xavier Bartlett has replaced Ferguson in the playing XI Vs KKR. Ferguson was one of PBKS's best bowlers in the tournament and Iyer will miss his services.
However, in Bartlett, the Punjab side has an experienced bowler who has 80 wickets in 64 T20s. Known for his impeccable control, the Brisbane Heat bowler will bring some heat against KKR batters.
Apart from Ferguson, PBKS have also dropped Marcus Stoinis and have replaced him with Josh Inglis.
