In a significant development, Smriti Mandhana continued her rich vein of form with a match-winning half-century off just 27 balls in the ongoing third T20I between India Women and West Indies Women at the DY Patil Sports Academy. The stand-in captain played with aggressive intent and class as she smashed 10 boundaries in her gritty knock.

Smriti Mandhana's Fiery Knock 

It would not be wrong to say that, when Mandhana steps out to bat, the anticipation is always high and even this time she didn't disappoint. The stylish left-hander scored her 30th T20I fifty in the shortest format of the game. 

Her fifty came in spectacular fashion in the 10th over of the first innings when she pulled a length delivery on the stumps from Hayley Matthews over mid-wicket for a four.

Earlier in the match, West Indies Women won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that seemed to work in their favor when Uma Chetry was dismissed for a duck after facing just two balls. However, after her wicket, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues rebuilt the innings with a partnership that brought India back on track.

While Mandhana took the lead with her rapid stroke-play, Rodrigues played the perfect supporting role. The two batters made 99 run-partnership, that helped India to recover from the early loss. At the time of writing, Smriti Mandhana is batting at 64 along with Raghvi Anand Bist at 15. India Women are at 123 runs at the loss of two wickets.
