Harare Sports Club witnessed a scintillating display of swashbuckling batting on Friday as former India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan led the Joburg Buffaloes to a spectacular six-wicket victory against the Durban Qalandars in the Zim Afro T10 2023 Qualifier 1.

Yusuf Pathan's blistering knock lead Joburg Buffaloes to the final

The stellar performance from the seasoned player secured the Buffaloes' position in the final of the high-octane tournament.

In what was the highlight of the day, Pathan, known for his hard-hitting skills, unleashed an unstoppable power show, hammering the Qalandars' bowling attack, including Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir.

The erstwhile all-rounder’s astonishing unbeaten knock of 80 runs off just 26 deliveries comprised of nine colossal sixes and four boundaries, steering his team to chase down the target of 140 runs in just 9.5 overs.

The defining moment of the game came during the eighth over when Pathan went on a rampant offensive against Amir. He initiated the over by hoisting the ball over cover for a six, swiftly followed by another maximum over long-on.

Despite the third delivery resulting in no run, Pathan retaliated by dispatching the fourth delivery over square leg for another six. The over, which cost Amir 24 runs, concluded with a wide, a couple, and a boundary, summing up an unflattering two-over spell of 42 runs without a wicket for the Pakistan international.

Earlier in the match, Durban Qalandars had set an ambitious total of 140 runs, thanks to commendable performances from Andres Fletcher (39 runs off 14 balls), Asif Ali (32 off 12 balls), and George Linde (24 off 9 balls).

However, the day ultimately belonged to Pathan, who, with his exhibition of power hitting, revived the golden days of his cricketing career. His sensational knock was instrumental in the Buffaloes' thrilling chase and helped them advance to the final stage of the tournament.
