Saturday’s Asia Cup 2023 clash between India and Pakistan already had fans glued to their screens. However, amidst all the on-field action, it was a seemingly trivial incident that got the internet buzzing.
Captured on live television during the high-voltage match, Kohli was spotted picking his nose while in the dugout. This momentary lapse into casualness by the otherwise intensely focused sparked a plethora of reactions and memes on social media.
The unexpected visual came after Kohli was dismissed for just four runs. Kohli’s dismissal was all the more important considering the earlier loss of skipper, Rohit Sharma.
The day, evidently, wasn't on Kohli’s side. After what seemed like a promising start, Kohli’s defense was breached by Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi which marked yet another instance of the bowler getting the better of the celebrated Indian batsman.
But it wasn’t just Kohli’s early exit that had fans worried. The rains played spoilsport, halting the game twice during India's innings. Fortunately, youngsters Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya stepped up to the occasion, stitching a significant partnership and pushing India's score to a respectable 266.
The match, however, did not see its end. Continuous rain interruptions forced the game's conclusion, confirming Pakistan's advancement to the Super Fours. With the game behind them, India now sets its sights on its next match against Nepal on Monday, September 4 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
