Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli continued his stellar run in the 2023 World Cup, composing a flamboyant half-century in India's fourth group-stage match against Bangladesh in Pune. Earlier, riding on bowlers' exceptional performance, India restricted Bangladesh to a moderate 256-run total. In response, the hosts got off to a flier, as the fireworks from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill took on the Tigers right from the word go.

After Sharma got out, Kohli joined the middle to bat alongside Gill and steady the Indian ship. He succeeded in his mission, compiling a magnificent fifty, his third in this World Cup and 69th of his career.

However, his 50th run came in a bizarre way, as he survived a run out to complete his half-century.

It was a length ball from Hasan Mahmud, with Kohli pushing it straight to the mid off. As soon as he started running, the fielder collected the ball and threw it towards the non-striker's end. However, unfortunately for Bangladesh, the ball missed the stumps, with Kohli completing his half-century.

Soon after Kohli struck his fifty, Shreyas Iyer got out to Mehidy Hasan Miraz. As of writing, India are well on course for a victory, placed at 178 for three, with KL Rahul and Kohli batting on 0* and 56*, respectively.
