On Wednesday, December 4, India beat UAE by ten wickets in their last group stage game of the U19 Asia Cup 2024 to enter the semi-finals. It was a do-or-die match for both teams as India were on the verge of a knockout with just one win in two matches before this game.
Talking about the recently concluded match, it was a near-perfect game for the Boys In Blue under pressure, as India, bowling first, restricted UAE to just 137 runs. Yudhajit Guha took a three-wicket haul, while Cheten Sharma and Hardik Raj took two wickets each.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Guides India U19 To Semi-Finals
In the batting, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre stitched an unbeaten 143-run stand and registered a 10-wicket win. Mhatre scored 67 (51), while Vaibhav Suryavanshi silenced the critics with his 76 (46), which featured six sixes and three fours.
The 13-year-old was toying with the bowlers and also finished the game in style like MS Dhoni and hit a maximum to finish the match. On the first ball of the 17th over, Suryavanshi smashed a six to U Suri to guide India to the semi-finals.
India's Group Stage Rank Depends On Pakistan
After the win against UAE, India are currently the table-toppers. However, there group stage position depends on Pakistan's result against Japan. At the time of writing this article, Pakistan are on course to register a big win against Japan. Currently, Japan are 56/8 and still require 188 runs to win.
Pakistan will surpass India in the points table by just a win over Japan. Notably, Pakistan will have three wins in three games.
