Sunil Narine’s purple patch with the bat continued on Monday (April 8) in Match 22 of IPL 2024 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

The veteran all-rounder began to open the bat for KKR under Gautam Gambhir’s mentorship this season, and the way he smacked Maheesh Theekshana out of the park was simply delightful to watch.

After KKR lost Phil Salt as early as the first ball of the contest, Narine and young Angkrish Raghuvanshi had so much to do to hold the fort. And they did their job perfectly before Narine went big against the Sri Lankan ace spinner to finish the fifth over of the innings in style.

It was a full delivery by Theekshana outside the off-stump, and Narine, batting on 20* off 14 balls, opened his stance before dispatching him over long-on for an 88-metre six.

At the time of writing this, KKR have also lost Raghuvanshi for 18-ball 24. They have reached 57/2 after 6.2 overs, with Narine batting on 26* off 18 balls, while Shreyas is on 1* off 1 deliveries.
