Mohammad Rizwan took over the leadership of Pakistan's white-ball teams from the Australia tour recently. They won the ODI series, but were whitewashed in the T20Is and now again they have lost the first game of the series against South Africa.
South Africa posted 183 while batting first and Pakistan fell short by 11 runs in the end. However, their conservative approach is likely to get lot of bashing, and at the centre of that approach was their skipper, Mohammad Rizwan. He batted right till the final over, but could manage just 74 runs in 62 balls, a knock that surely does not align with the modern-day T20 cricket.
For the most part of his knock, Mohammad Rizwan was batting at a strike-rate of under 100 and only accelerated after he came close to fifty. He still could not get the job done though.

In the final over, Kwena Maphaka bowled a short delivery, angling away from Rizwan and the batter tried to drag it towards the leg side. He only managed to get an outside edge though and Nqabayomzi Peter grabbed an important catch for his team at the third man position. His wicket brought huge cheers at Kingsmead as young and old fans both rejoiced in joy.
Apart from Rizwan, only two other batters could reach the double-digit score while George Linde was the star of the show with his all-round performance. In the first innings, Linde hammered 48 off just 24 balls and then picked four wickets with the ball to stage a winning start for the Proteas to the three-match T20I series.
