On Sunday, Shubman Gill showed his composure at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during India's last World Cup 2023 league match against the Netherlands. The 24-year-old, who recently emerged as the No. 1 ODI batter in the world, dethroning Babar Azam, played an outragous shot which went out of the stadium against the Dutch spinner Aryan Dutt.

Opting to bat, Gill had a job to give a fitting support to Rohit Sharma, who has been in impeccable form in the ongoing tournament at home. But the youngster did not hold back to charge as early as the third ball of the innings, as he anticipated what ball was coming perfectly before coming down the track against the off-spinner.

The timing of that shot after Gill reached there was so perfect that it seemed like a biggie. And it was, as the ball travelled 95 metres, and dropped on the roof before going out of the ground.

As of writing, India are on a roll, having raced to 47/0 after 5.3 overs. Gill is batting on 20* off just 10 balls, whereas Rohit Sharma is on 23* off 25 balls.
