India's young batter Abhishek Sharma endured a rare failure this evening, as he was dismissed cheaply in Sunrisers Hyderabad's ongoing IPL 2024 clash against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur. Opening the batting, Abhishek struck some glorious boundaries before Shashank Singh's stunning diving catch ended his brief stay. 

The incident took place in the fifth over of Hyderabad's innings when they needed Abhishek and Nitish Reddy to form a consolidating stand following the early departure of Travis Head and Aiden Markram. 

Sam Curran had a horrible start to the over, with Abhishek hammering him for a six and a boundary on consecutive deliveries. 

However, while trying to intimidate the bowler, the stylish southpaw played another aerial shot on the final ball only to find Shashank Singh at the point. 

As Abhishek struck the ball powerfully, it travelled in the air in the off side at a great speed. However, Shashank, who played a magnificent knock in Punjab's previous game, dived forward, holding on to a sensational catch. 

Thus, Abhishek, who looked sublime during his stay, failed to convert his brisk start into a big score. 

After his departure, Rahul Tripathi came in as SRH's impact substitute to steady the ship alongside Nitish. As of writing, the visitors were 41 for three in 6.1 overs, with Nitish and Tripathi batting on 2* and 0*, respectively.
