On Saturday, February 8, Pakistan locked horns against New Zealand at the newly inaugurated Gaddafi Stadium in the first match of the tri-series between the two teams and South Africa. The ongoing series acts as a trial ground for the upcoming Champions Trophy that starts on February 19 in Pakistan.
Interestingly, both Pakistan and New Zealand will play the curtain raiser match on February 19 in Karachi. Talking about the ongoing match, the hosts got off to the best possible start as Shaheen Afridi, who has made a name for himself by striking in the first over, got rid of opener Will Young.

On the 3rd ball of the 1st over, Shaheen got hit for a four but followed it with a wicket as Mohammed Rizwan made no mistake behind the wicket and took a great diving catch. Afridi was elated by the effort and celebrated the dismissal by hugging Fakhar Zaman. Watch the wicket here.
Fakhar Zaman Returns To The Team After A Long Time
Pakistan are having a great run in the ODIs as they are fresh off a series win against Australia and South Africa. Altough, the hosts, who are the favourites as well, have made a few changes to their set-up and included the likes of Fakhar Zaman, who hasn't been with the team for a long time.
Notably, Fakhar made a post criticising the PCB, that didn't do good for him as he was dropped out of the team. Further, he also apologised to the board, but got back to the team only in this series as Saim Ayub is injured.
Talking about the ongoing match, New Zealand are 28/1 after 6 overs.
