Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is having a forgetful Chennai Test as the hitman threw his wicket away in the second innings for another low score. After the end of the first innings of both teams, India had a lead of 227 runs. Rohit Sharma did not enforce a follow-on and came to bat alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings.

Rohit's stay at the crease ended quite early as he returned to the pavilion with a score of 5 (7), which featured a solitary boundary. Taskin Ahmed got rid of the Indian skipper as he again failed to read the swing. On the 3rd ball of the 3rd over, Rohit edged the ball, and Zakir Hasan made no mistake standing at slips.

Rohit Sharma Registers A Rare Double Failure

It is turning out to be a disappointing Test with the bat for Rohit as he scored just 6 (19) in the first innings, which too featured a solitary four. In that innings, Hasan Mahmud got rid of the Indian skipper in a similar fashion where a thick outside edge ended Rohit's knock as Najmul Shanto took the catch standing at the slips.

In that innings, Rohit was struggling from ball one as there were several chances that Bangladesh created to get rid of the hitman. On one occasion, Hasan Mahmud nearly trapped him in front of the wicket, but the umpire was uninterested. Despite a review, umpire's call saved Rohit.

Rohit Sharma's Poor Average Against Bangladesh in Tests

Before this match, Rohit was eyeing to improve his stats against the Tigers as he holds a poor average against the Najmul Shanto-led side. Rohit Sharma's past performances against Bangladesh in Test cricket have been underwhelming. He has scored 33 runs across three Test matches at an average of 11.00, with a highest score of just 21.
