On Wednesday, December 18, R Ashwin shook the cricketing world as he announced a shocking retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. The right-arm off-spinner held a press-conference after the end of the Gabba Test where he announced his decision. 

Speculations were doing round on the internet after R Ashwin was spotted sharing an emotional hug with Virat Kohli in the dressing room as play was halted because of rain on day 5 of the 3rd Test. Meanwhile, a fresh video has emerged online where Rohit Sharma, who attended the press conference alongside Ashwin, got emotional and also shared a hug with the right-arm off spinner.

Ashwin Decided To Call It A Quit After Perth Test

During the press conference, Ashwin didn't take much time nor did he allow any questions, but Rohit addressed the reporters and heaped massive praise on the right-arm off-spinner. It is also worth noting that during the same presser, Rohit also revealed that Ashwin had decided to call it a day after the Perth Test, but he had to convince the CSK star to stay till the pink-ball Test. 

While, Ashwin has call it a day in international cricket, he will continue to play domestic cricket and also the IPL.  In the ongoing series, Ashwin featured in just one match as played in the Adelaide Test.
