Afghanistan's legendary all-rounder Rashid Khan had a forgettable moment on the field as he dropped a sitter, giving Travis Head a lifeline. The wicket held significant importance for Afghanistan, but Rashid let the team down by committing a fielding blunder.
Rashid Khan's Drop Catch Relieves Travis Head And Australia
The incident occurred during the fourth over of Australia's innings after Azmatullah Omarzai's magnificent knock powered Afghanistan to a daunting 273-run total. In response, Australia had a fabulous start to their innings, with Travis Head and Matthew Short frustrating the Afghans with their stroke-play.
However, when Fazalhaq Farooqi created a golden opportunity to dismiss Head, Rashid Khan dropped a sitter, giving the batter a lifeline. From over the wicket, Farooqi bowled a back-of-the-length delivery which Head tried to muscle over the leg-side field.
But the southpaw mistimed it completely, with the ball going straight to the mid-on, where Rashid Khan was fielding. However, the talismanic cricketer couldn't hold on to the catch, letting Australia down big time.
Short Dismissed; Head, Smith Join Hands In Middle
Despite losing Matthew Short, Australia have managed a phenomenal scoring rate, racing to 68 for one in 7.1 overs as of writing. While Travis Head is batting on a blistering 21-ball 30*, Steve Smith has looked sublime for his 7-ball 11*.
