Rahmat Shah took an absolute beauty of a catch to get rid of Mehidy Hasan Miraz on Saturday (October 7) in Afghanistan's World Cup 2023 opener against Bangladesh at HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala. In the process, Naveen-ul-Haq, who is set to retire from the ODIs after this World Cup, bagged his maiden wicket in the competition.

Mehidy went for a lofted drive against Naveen over extra cover, and Rahmat saw the opportunity coming. The 30-year-old timed his jump perfectly, and stretched his one hand to take a catch which will go down as the edition's most impressive ones.

Despite the fact that Afghanistan were on the verge of defeat, Rashid Khan, as well as his other players, leapt in joy after the catch. They all came to Rahmat to congratulate him, with Rashid hugging him for applause.

However, Mehidy's all-round performance (3/25, 57*) helped Bangladesh chase 157 in just 34.4 overs with six wickets to spare. Mehidy, unsurprisingly, was rewarded with the Man of the Match trophy for his brilliant efforts.

Afghanistan will next play India on October 11 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
