The Northern Superchargers and the Manchester Originals locked horns in the 16th match of The Hundred 2024 at the Headingley in Leeds. The Superchargers put in a brilliant display to win the game by 14 runs. In a game that tilted in both sides favours through out the duration there were some moments of individual brilliance that caught the eyes of the spectators.

Harry Brook takes the Supercharges to a big total

The Originals won the toss and put the Superchargers into bat. Though the Superchargers did not have a great start to their innings, their skipper, Harry Brook played a brilliant knock of 58 runs from 33 balls and ensured the progress of the team. The effort by Brook followed by a couple of cameos got them to a formidable total of 167/5 in their quota of 100 balls.

Phil Salt set up the chase for the Originals

The Manchester Originals had a great start to their innings. Their openers, Phil Salt and Matthew Hurst struck a patrnership of 90 runs and laid a great foundation for the rest. The skipper, Phil Salt, who as earlier seen playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 played an aggressive knock of 40 runs from 27 balls.

During his stay in the middle, Salt hit two huge maximums and three boundaries. One of these maximums came against Mitchell Santner in the sixth set of the innings. On the second delivery of the set, Santner bowled a flighter delivery around the off and middle stump line. Phil Salt spotted the line and length early and set himself by clearing his front leg. Salt then swatted away the ball straight down the ground and over the long-on fielder for a maximum.

Although the Originals had a great start to the innings, they lost their way mid-way. Some great bowling by the Superchargers put the Originals behind in the chase. In the end, the Originals were restricted to 153/6 in their 100 balls as they lost the match by 14 runs.
