Iftikhar Ahmed, fresh from his World Cup 2023 all-round show for Pakistan, plucked a stunning catch in the final of the ensuing Pakistan Cup 2023. Turning up for Peshawar Region in Rawalpindi, his sensational fielding effort curtailed Karachi Region Whites’ skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s threatening stay at the crease before they were eventually bowled out for just 103.

Mere days after the conclusion of Pakistan’s disappointing World Cup 2023 campaign in India, Iftikhar Ahmed returned to his domestic roots by turning up for Peshawar Region towards the closing stages of the 2023 Pakistan Cup.

While the cricketer delivered a match-winning spell against FATA in the first semifinal, he snared a sensational catch at midwicket in the subsequent title clash against Karachi Region Whites. His fielding excellence helped teammate Mohammad Ilyas get rid of Pakistan veteran and Karachi Region Whites skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed for just 22.

Sarfaraz’s team crumbled under pressure as they were bundled out for just 103 in 31.2 overs.

Iftikhar Ahmed, on the other hand, recently represented Pakistan national team in all their nine World Cup 2023 fixtures in India. The right-handed batter unleashed match-winning cameos for his country against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in key matches.

However, Iftikhar failed to make much impact in their remaining games as Pakistan slumped to five defeats in the league stage to crash out of the semifinals race.
