India are facing Sri Lanka in the first of the three match ODI series. This match is being played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. 

Sri Lanka's lower middle-order gets them to a respectable total

The home team won the toss in the game and opted to bat first. The Indian bowlers did a good job from the start of the innings and did not let the Sri Lankan innings take off. Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals and at one stage it looked like Sri Lanka will not be able to get a fighting total on the board. However, the lower middle-order of the team put up a fight and took the total to 230 at the end of the 50 overs. 


India start off on a good note but let the momentum slip

In the chase the Indian team got off to a great start. The opening partnership worked 75 runs with Rohit Sharma scoring a quick fire 50. However after this India lost a few quick wickets and things started to fall apart. KL Rahul and Axar Patel got together when the team's total was 132/5. They stitched a partnership of 57 runs and it was looking the duo will take India home easily. 

However, this did not happen as Wanindu Hasaranga got the better of KL Rahul in the 40th over. On the fourth delivery he flighted up the ball at the middle and leg. Rahul cleared his front leg and tried to slog it out of the park on the leg side. All he managed was a top edge to be taken Dunith Wellalage. The wicket put India under pressure. 

However, Shivam Dube stood tall at one end and along with the tail enders to India close to the target.
