It's a big cricket season in Pakistan and in the first game of the the tri-series, Pakistan are up against New Zealand. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first and they have managed to post a healthy first innings total. Pakistan started well, but they lost the way at the death and Kiwis hammered 84 runs in the last five years.
The tormentor-in-chief was Glenn Phillips who smashed Pakistan bowlers all over the park and ended up with an unbeaten score of 106 from 74 balls. He hit six fours and seven sixes in his knock and took Pakistan's best bowler, Shaheen Afridi for cleaners. One of the shots of the innings was the six he hit against Shaheen Afridi in the 48th and it made Shaheen Afridi look like a club bowler.
Shaheen Afridi Loses His Way Against Glenn Phillips
On the third ball of the 48th over, Shaheen Afridi bowled a short delivery from 'round the wicket and Glenn Phillips launched it over deep mid-wicket. Afridi tried to compensate and ended up bowling a low full toss on middle. Phillips was ready for it though and played a stunning reverse-scoop that went all the way over third man fence for a maximum.
It was quite a shot against a quality bowler like Shaheen Afridi and Phillips hammered him again in the last over to take his team to 330. In the process, the batter himself got to his maiden ODI century and it is just the finishing touches New Zealand needed after an indifferent start.
