Fakhar Zaman has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons as the southpaw was left out of the squad for the Australia and Zimbabwe tour, citing injury and fitness concerns. However, the opening batter has taken indirect dig at PCB as he continues to flourish in Pakistan's Champions T20 Cup.
He still wishes to make a comeback in the Pakistan side, but the hopes dashed away on Tuesday as the champion batter was dismissed for a first ball duck against the Dolphins.
Dolphins posted 128/9 while batting first and Fakhar Zaman's team, Markhors needed a paltry total to win the contest, however, disaster struck as the opening batter was knocked over for a duck.
The Dolphins pacer, Sameen Gul bowled a fuller length ball which swung away sharply and took the outside-edge as Fakhar fails to get proper timing on it. The ball went straight to the slip fielder who took a simple catch as the batter walked in disbelief.
Fakhar's Pakistan future in jeopardy
A couple of months earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to remove star player Babar Azam from the Test team and this infuriated Fakhar as he took a dig at the PCB and tweeted in support of his friend, Babar.
This didn't go well with PCB chief, Mohsin Naqvi as he condemned the decision and decided to remove Fakhar giving lack of fitness and disciplinary issue as the reason. Now, through the Champions Cup, Fakhar is eyeing a comeback in the white-ball side.
However, it seems as if PCB have not forgotten about the tweet and didn't select him in the Pakistan squad for the South African tour.
