Mumbai Indians' promising pacer Gerald Coetzee continued his torrid run in the IPL 2024, recording an expensive spell in the high-scoring clash against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

However, what bothered MI more was his ordinary fielding effort, which gave Abhishek Porel a lifeline.

The incident occurred during the eleventh over of the Capitals' innings when MI captain Hardik Pandya brought Akash Madhwal back into the attack to break the scintillating stand between Porel and Prithvi Shaw.

The move backfired on the hosts, as the DC batters took on the young pacer, hammering him for 12 runs in his first five deliveries. However, Madhwal created a chance, albeit through a hittable full toss, only to see the catch being put down by none other than Coetzee.

It was a low full toss on the middle stump, as Porel swung across, getting a leading edge. However, Coetzee, stationed inside the circle, failed to hold on to the catch, giving the southpaw a lifeline.

However, soon after Coetzee's fielding blunder, MI got the prized breakthrough of Prithvi Shaw, with Bumrah castling him with a toe-crusher. As of writing, the Capitals were struggling, placed at 138 for two in 14 overs in pursuit of a mammoth 236-run target.
