Team India, with the much-awaited returns of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, took field against Australia in their dead-rubber third ODI at Rajkot’s Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Notably, the ‘Men in Blue’ players were graced by local boy and Test zealot Cheteshwar Pujara on the field, who greeted the Indian team management and players during the innings break.

Pujara was seen sharing a friendly conversation with Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma as well as head coach Rahul Dravid among several other Indian players already lined up to face the visiting Australians.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who last took field for Team India during their WTC final Test match against Australia in June, subsequently travelled to England for the ongoing County Championship for Sussex. However, his stint with the club was cut short after he was suspended for breaching Sussex’s Code of Conduct.

A day before India’s third ODI against Australia, Pujara was seen accompanying Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma on their flight to Rajkot. The Test specialist also caught up Sharma, along with the rest of the Indian players at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium during the mid-innings break of the match.

In the meantime, India’s Rajkot affair with Australia marks their final set of fixtures prior to the forthcoming 2023 World Cup at home.

Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first on a flat Rajkot surface, a decision ably backed by his top-order as they charted 352-7 upfront.
