Debutant Dhruv Jurel surely carried some beginner's luck in the Rajkot Test as he was dropped not once but twice by the English fielders, with the skipper himself, Ben Stokes, putting down an absolute sitter at leg slip.

Debutant Dhruv Jurel stepped out in the white for the first time in international cricket earlier today. He was made to wait for his due as the wicket-keeper batter stepped out at number 7. Regardless, Jurel's intent wasn't lacking.

The fearless batter hit an audacious six off Mark Wood and announced himself in style in Test cricket.

Moreover, Jurel's day had just started. He and Ashwin built up a stable 50+ run partnership and added crucial runs to India's first-innings tally.

That being said, besides positive intent and sheer aggressiveness, Dhruv Jurel also had luck working in his favor. The wicket-keeper was initially dropped by Ollie Pope at mid-wicket in what turned out to be a regulation catch.

Regardless, Mark Wood, who had toiled hard throughout the day, produced yet another chance in the final delivery of the 118th over. Wood bowled a full-length delivery at the leg stump line.

Dhruv wanted to flick it towards the leg side but ended up getting a thick outside edge, which flew straight to Ben Stokes at leg slip, who was late to reach despite being in the slip position.

Regardless, Stokes eventually managed to grab the catch but failed to hold onto it and put down an absolute sitter.

Mark Wood was extremely disappointed with his captain's lazy demeanor and walked back with frustration widely visible on his face.

On the other hand, Dhruv Jurel was relieved as he had earned two back-to-back lifelines.

The debutant's maiden innings in Test cricket has been promising, and his intent has had an entire nation on its feet.
