Pakistan's reinstated white-ball skipper Babar Azam had a memorable outing in his side's first T20I against Ireland as he struck a scintillating knock to set the foundation for a big score. Although Babar hit several glorious boundaries, his powerful shot off Barry McCarthy grabbed the limelight as it nearly injured his batting partner Saim Ayub. 

The incident took place during the fourth over of Pakistan's innings after they lost Mohammad Rizwan cheaply. 

After bowling two consecutive dot balls, McCarthy delivered a full length delivery, which Babar powerfully hammered down the ground. 

However, the shot sent shivers down Ayub's spine as the ball nearly struck him on his box. As the ball travelled towards him, the southpaw showcased quick reflexes to time his jump perfectly and avoid the unfortunate incident. 

Meanwhile, despite Babar and Ayub's excellent knocks, Pakistan have suffered a batting collapse in the first game against the Irish. 

While Ayub contributed 45 runs, Babar slammed a flamboyant 57, studded with eight fours and one six. 

Craig Young has emerged as the key performer for Ireland, scalping two crucial wickets in his four-over spell. 

As of writing, the visitors were 138 for five, with Fakhar Zaman and Iftikhar Ahmed unbeaten in the middle.
