Abu Dhabi Knight Riders posted a formidable total of 188 runs in the first innings against MI Emirates at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in the 12th match of the ILT20, 2024 on Sunday. As many as 36 runs were scored in the final two overs of the innings bowled by Trent Boult and Dwayne Bravo, all thanks to ‘Russell Muscle”.

The West Indies all-rounder hit two consecutive sixes off Trent Boult in the 19th over in a bid to up the ante. He then took on his country-mate Dwayne Bravo, hitting him for three sixes in an over. Bravo bowled a juicy half-volley on the second ball and Russell smashed that for a six over long-on.

The former went full on the next ball and Russell hammered that one too for another six. This was followed by two dot deliveries. Inching for another maximum, Russell smacked a short delivery over the deep backward square fence to make it three sixes in a row.

Despite being troubled with frequent injuries, Andre Russell is still hitting sixes for fun. You can watch the video of his destructive sixes in the final over here:

Andre Russell finished the innings with an unbeaten knock of 46 runs in just 17 balls, including six sixes. Besides, the likes of Sam Hain (40), Alishan Sharafu (37), and Michael Pepper (38) also made valuable contributions to take the team to a solid total on the scoreboard.

MI Emirates, though, haven’t broken a sweat in pursuit of the target.  They chased down the score in just 19 overs with 8 wickets in hand. Muhammad Waseem played a match-winning knock of 87 runs in just 61 deliveries, including 8 fours and 2 sixes.

MI Emirates leads the points tally with 4 wins in 5 games

Led by Nicholas Pooran, MI Emirates are sitting comfortably at the top of the points table with 4 wins in 5 matches.

Dubai Capitals are sitting at second with two wins in 4 matches, followed by the likes of Gulf Giants and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at three and four, respectively. Both the team have only secured two wins this season.

Desert Vipers are sitting second from the bottom of the points table. They have a solitary win to their name in 3 games. Sharjah Warriors, on the other hand, are currently languishing at the bottom of the table. They too have only picked up one win in three games.
