To support Dhruv Jurel's fightback innings, debutant Akash Deep stepped out and played a sturdy cameo before Shoaib Bashir outfoxed the batter with a disguised slider.

India added significant runs to the overnight tally as Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav stepped up with aggressive intent. Jurel, especially, played his shots with absolutely zero pressure and fearlessness.

However, Kuldeep Yadav's resistance came to an end after James Anderson sent the batter packing in a soft dismissal.

Regardless, Akash Deep shouldered the responsibility of playing second fiddle to Jurel. He displayed calmness and also didn't shy away from showing bad balls its place into the stands.

However, Shoaib Bashir, England's second-inning hero, was on a quest to claim his maiden career fifer, and his hunt ended with Akash Deep.

Bashir fooled the debutant with a slider, which forced the latter to defend on the back foot. However, while Deep played for the turn, the ball stayed straight into the off-stump line and beating the batter on the pads.

While umpires deemed it out, the debutant tried to test his luck with the DRS referral. He perhaps wanted the benefit of height to go in his favor. But to his misfortune, the ball just clipped the middle stump, and Akash Deep had to make a long walk back into the dressing room.

Meanwhile, young Shoaib Bashir couldn't control his excitement as he had bagged his career maiden five-wicket haul on his debut tour, which kicked off with turbulence. However, Bashir kept his chin up and yielded results on his hard work in the fourth Test in Ranchi.

Nevertheless, Akash Deep's short stay at the crease proved to be pivotal for Dhruv Jurel. It allowed him time to hit his shots and add crucial runs to the tally in order to reduce the trail to the bare minimum.
