England’s spin wizard Adil Rashid had the final say against Hardik Pandya. He dismissed the Indian all-rounder with a beauty in the 47th over of the first innings at the Narendra Modi Stadium. After being smashed for two monstrous sixes, Rashid struck back with a peach of a delivery to rattle Pandya’s stumps.

The moment came after Hardik Pandya had announced himself in style and launched a 78-meter six followed by another breathtaking maximum in the next ball itself. Rashid, however, had the last laugh. He delivered a tossed up flighted delivery around the middle stump, he deceived Pandya with sharp turn. 

Pandya moved forward to defend it but was beaten on the outside edge, and the ball crashed into the stumps, bringing an end to his short yet impactful knock.  

Rashid Dominates India’s Top Order

Rashid had already dismantled India’s top order, and claimed the crucial wickets of Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer. Earlier, India, after losing Rohit Sharma cheaply, saw Gill and Kohli rebuild with a 116-run stand. Gill dazzled with a century, while Iyer contributed a quickfire 78 off 64 balls.  

At the time of writing, India remains in a strong position with the middle order looking to capitalise on the solid foundation laid by the top-order batters. India are at 333 at the loss of 7 wickets.
