United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan will square off against each other in a three-match T20I series, with the first game scheduled to take place on Friday, December 29th, in Sharjah.

Both sides will be meeting for the second time in a bilateral T20I assignment this year, as the Rashid Khan-led unit won by 2-1 when these two sides met each other in Abu Dhabi earlier this year.

The United Arab Emirates had a tremendous outing against New Zealand earlier this year when they managed to get the better of the Kiwis in one of the three T20Is they played against them.

They are a much better side now since these two sides met last time back in February. Many talents are coming around from the country, and the emergence of the International League T20 has only given them the much-needed experience of international cricket.

After coming close to beating the Blackcaps in their last bilateral assignment and falling short in the recently concluded Gulf T20I championship final against Oman, UAE will be looking to be at their best this series and get one step ahead to clinch the series this time.

Afghanistan will take the field without their skipper Rashid Khan, who underwent a minor lower back surgery recently and is still on his way to recovery. He led the Atalans last time they visited UAE for a three-match T20I series.

They have performed extremely well in the ODI World Cup in India and will be eyeing to catch up on the shortest format of the game now while keeping the forthcoming T20 World Cup in mind in the Caribbean and USA.

Even though Afghanistan will miss the presence of Rashid, they are still a balanced unit on paper with a good mixture of experience and youth, which has all the elements of doing wonders in this format and taking another series under their belt in the UAE.
