T20 World Cup 2022: Moments of Day 5

On the fifth day of the Super 12 of ICC T20 World Cup 2022, two matches took place. In the first match it was England taking on Ireland, while in the second it was Afghanistan facing New Zealand. 

Both the matches were to took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. 

1st Match: England vs Ireland

In the first match, England won the toss and decided to field first. Ireland got off to a blazing start courtesy of the skipper, Andrew Balbirnie. But they failed to hold on to initial momentum and ended up getting dismissed for 157 runs in 19.2 overs. 

In the chase Ireland were once again on spot at the beginning. They had England reeling at 29/3 in 5.3 overs. After this England kept falling behind the asking rate. Though Dawid Malan tried his best but he was rusty in the middle to say the least. At the stroke of 14.3 overs rain interrupted the match and it has to be abandoned. Ireland were declared the winners by 5 runs by DLS method.
