Pakistan speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi recorded his second-worst spell in T20Is during the first match of the five-match T20I series against New Zealand in Auckland.

Shaheen Afridi conceded 46 runs in his four overs, but he also claimed three wickets. Finn Allen inflicted the most damage on the Pakistan speedster, hitting him for 24 runs in just one over.

Besides him, Aamer Jamal, who shone in Pakistan's recent tour of Australia, was also dismantled by New Zealand batters, conceding 56 runs in his four-over spell without picking any wicket.

As the most economical bowlers for Pakistan, Haris Rauf and Abbas Afridi boasted economy rates below nine, along with picking up two and three wickets, respectively.

Here, it's worth mentioning that this match was the debut of Shaheen Afridi as the regular captain of the Pakistan T20I team. He assumed the captaincy after Babar Azam stepped down from all formats following the team's underwhelming performance in the 2023 World Cup.

New Zealand posted a total of 226 runs, losing eight wickets, with Daryl Mitchell and Captain Kane Williamson each scoring a half-century. In addition to the duo, Fin Allen and Mark Chapman played quickfire innings, contributing 35 and 26 runs, respectively.

Furthermore, there's another unwanted record set by the Pakistan team under Shaheen Afridi's captaincy, with this being the highest total conceded by them in T20I history.
