As he entered his trademark sword-wave celebrations for another Test match fifty for India in Hyderabad on Day 2, Ravindra Jadeja bagged an eye-catching feat next to his name. The great spin allrounder achieved his eighth half-century on Indian shores since 2018, the most by an Indian batter at home in the six-year period.

Jadeja inched over the joint holders of the numero uno tag Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara, who have smashed seven half-centuries apiece since the start of 2018 in home conditions. The Gujarat lad managed to pip over the premier wicketkeeper-batter and the stoic No.3 for India.

For those wondering, modern-day legend Virat Kohli has six fifties made in Test cricket at home in this period of his career, with the great right-hander undergoing a rare dip at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in a phase where India's itinerary has been dominated by Tests in foreign conditions.

Jadeja Achieves Special Feat With Hyderabad 50*

The 35-year-old Jadeja, who has been on an astonishing rise as an allround cricketer over the last seven years, achieved the landmark in the middle of another invaluable effort and very restraint knock which helped India stretch their first-innings lead of 175 runs by stumps

Having seen multiple of his teammates dismissed in pursuit of aerial strokes after getting set at the crease, Jadeja decided to back his defence and work hard for his runs, which put in extra overs in the tired legs of England's inexperienced spinners and also deteriorated the track further.

The left-hander finished the play on Friday (January 26) with an extremely well compiled 81* and is heading towards his fourth Test century on the morning of Day 3 in the Hyderabad Test.
