Led by Babar Azam, Peshawar Zalmi have blown hot and cold in the PSL 2024 season, occupying the third position in the points table with four wins in eight appearances. 

Although they bounced back remarkably by securing three consecutive wins, the recent defeat against Islamabad United was sufficient to shatter their confidence. However, they must be feeling better following their narrow win against Multan Sultans in a high-scoring thriller a couple of days ago. 

Besides Babar Azam, Saim Ayub and Rovman Powell have led the scoring charts for the Zalmi, with Luke Wood and Salman Irshad chipping in with crucial contributions with the ball.

On the other hand, Quetta Gladiators have had a slightly better season than their counterparts, as they are placed second in the standings with four victories in seven matches. 

They had a dream start to the tournament, winning consecutive fixtures against Peshawar, Lahore, and Islamabad. However, their players' collective failure led them to two crushing defeats in their subsequent four games. 

So, the Gladiators must be desperate to secure a win and consolidate their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. The onus will be on Jason Roy and Saud Shakeel, in addition to Abrar Ahmed, who has bamboozled the batters with his guile and variations.
