Australia wrapped up a dominant tour of the West Indies with a flawless 8-0 whitewash, capping it off with a 3-wicket win in the fifth T20I in Warner Park on July 29. The clean sweep saw them match the record for the second-most wins on an overseas tour without a single defeat, just behind India’s 9-0 record in Sri Lanka in 2017.

The Aussies won all three Tests and all five T20Is, showcasing depth in both batting and bowling departments throughout the tour.

Australia Etch Massive Record With Utter Dominance

With the final 5th T20I win, Australia became only the second team in men's international cricket to win eight matches without defeat on a single away tour. The record for the most wins still belongs to India, who went 9-0 in Sri Lanka in 2017. Australia now joins that elite list, alongside their own 2005 tour of New Zealand (8 wins and 1 draw) and West Indies’ 1983 tour of India (8 wins and 3 draws).

Most Wins by Away Teams on a Tour Without Losing Any Games:

  • 9 wins by India in Sri Lanka, 2017
  • 8 wins by Australia in West Indies, 2025*
  • 8 wins (1 Draw) by Australia in New Zealand, 2005
  • 8 wins (3 Draws) by West Indies in India, 1983
  • 7 wins (1 No-Result) by Pakistan in Zimbabwe, 2002-03
  • 7 wins by Sri Lanka in Zimbabwe, 2004
  • 7 wins (2 Draws) by South Africa in West Indies, 2005
  • 7 wins by Afghanistan in UAE, 2016/17
  • 7 wins by India in West Indies & USA, 2019

In the recently concluded T20I series, Australia chased down stiff targets and handled pressure situations with remarkable composure. The first T20I saw them hunt down 189 with three wickets in hand, finishing the chase in 18.5 overs. In the second T20I, the visitors cruised to an eight-wicket win, chasing 173 in just 15.2 overs.

The third game featured the highest chase of the series, where Australia overhauled 214 in only 16.1 overs, highlighting their batting firepower. The fourth T20I was more closely contested, with Australia reaching the target of 206 with three wickets and four balls remaining.

All-Round Effort Helps Australia Seal 5th T20I Win

In the final T20I, West Indies posted 170 all out in 19.4 overs, thanks to quick contributions from Shimron Hetmyer (52 off 31) and Sherfane Rutherford (35 off 17). However, a late-order collapse restricted them from posting a bigger total. Ben Dwarshuis was the standout with the ball for Australia, picking up three wickets, while Nathan Ellis took two.

With the bat, Australia’s chase got off to a shaky start as they lost Glenn Maxwell for a duck, but Mitchell Owen’s explosive 37 off 17 balls, Tim David's 30 off 12, and Aaron Hardie’s unbeaten 28 guided them to victory in just 17 overs.
