The inevitable happened, and Day 2 of the India vs England Manchester Test was halted due to persistent rain in the morning session. Interestingly, as anticipated, an early lunch has been taken, with India 321/6 at the end of session 1 on the second day. Accuweather predicted rain on all five days of the Test match, and the predictions came true.
The covers were immediately brought on as the players rushed back to the dugout for lunch. At the moment, there is light drizzle, but rain is expected to pick up pace as the day progresses. Rain also halted India's momentum as Rishabh Pant had just walked out to bat, and he was starting to find his feet when rain god decided to ruin his party.
Old Trafford Weather Update for Day 2
As per Accuweather updates, the probability of rain at the moment is 43%, and it will increase and will go upto 51% at 5 PM, BST. The day's play ends at 6 PM, and rain is scheduled to play a cat and mouse game throughout. This will hamper plans of both India and England, as the contest is evenly poised, and the two teams will look to grab the upper hand.
Weather updates for the rest of three days at Manchester
As per the weather updates, things look gloomy for the remainder of the three days at Manchester. Luckily enough, Day 1 wasn't spoiled by rain, but Day 2 will have a start and stop passage.
Now, as per Accuweather, there is rain prediction for Day 3, 4, and 5, and this could hamper the Manchester Test match. However, the Old Trafford stadium has a wonderful drainage system, and it could soak out the water quickly, if and when the rain stops.
