Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) thrashed Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 60 runs in Match 58 of the IPL 2024 in Dharamsala on Thursday.

The win keeps RCB's playoff hopes alive, while PBKS have been eliminated from the tournament.

Batting first, RCB posted a formidable total of 241/7 in their 20 overs, powered by a blistering 92 off 47 balls by Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar's rapid 55 off just 23 balls.

In response, PBKS faltered, with Rilee Rossouw leading the charge with a 27-ball 61. However, the rest of the lineup crumbled, as PBKS were bundled out for 181, falling short by 60 runs.

Here's the timeline of how PBKS vs RCB panned out in Dharamsala-

PBKS vs RCB: Highlights: Du Plessis, Jacks Fall Early to Kaverappa

RCB were put into bat and initially stumbled when skipper Faf du Plessis was caught for just 9 and Will Jacks fell for 12, both succumbing to the impressive Vidwath Kaverappa.

However, the early setbacks didn’t dampen RCB's spirits as they played their usual attacking cricket.

PBKS vs RCB: Highlights: Kohli and Patidar Dominate Dropped Catches Give RCB Momentum

Despite being dropped on 0 and 10, Virat Kohli remained unfazed, quickly shifting gears with Rajat Patidar. Patidar was the initial aggressor, racing to 55 off just 23 balls with a series of fierce strokes before being caught behind off Sam Curran.

With the scoreboard reading 119/3 after 10 overs and rain briefly interrupting the game, Kohli anchored the innings like only he could, ensuring RCB’s momentum remained unbroken.

His 92 off 47 balls, studded with seven fours and six maximums, set the foundation for a massive total before Arshdeep Singh finally got the better of him.

PBKS vs RCB: Highlights: Late Flourishes from Green and Karthik Push RCB Beyond 240

With Kohli’s dismissal, the mantle was taken over by Cameron Green, who delivered a brilliant 46 off 27 balls, and Dinesh Karthik chipped in with a brisk 18 off 7 balls.

Despite a flurry of wickets towards the end, RCB ended their innings at a colossal 241/7, proving that even a storm can’t stop the determined in this must-win game for them.

PBKS vs RCB: Highlights: Swapnil Sets the Stage, Bairstow and Rossouw Counterattack

Swapnil Singh gave RCB the upper hand right out of the gate, trapping Prabhsimran Singh stone-cold in front of the stumps in the first over.

PBKS were left to pick up the pieces, but Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw joined forces, putting together a steady 65-run partnership for the second wicket.

Just when it seemed like Bairstow was finding his groove, Lockie Ferguson's deceptive slower ball spelled doom, dismissing him for a quick 27 off 16.

PBKS vs RCB: Highlights: Rossouw's Rampage & Shashank's Sizzle

Rilee Rossouw then took the driver's seat, launching a blistering assault on the RCB bowlers. Smashing 61 off just 27 deliveries, he reached his maiden half-century of the season in style.

At the other end, Shashank Singh joined the party, striking at a breakneck pace with a fiery 37 off 19. The pair put PBKS in cruise control before Karn Sharma intervened, clipping Rossouw's wings and sending him back to the pavillion.

Sharma struck again shortly afterward, dismissing Jitesh Sharma for just 5. With Rossouw gone, PBKS leaned on Liam Livingstone to steady the ship, but Swapnil Singh made quick work of him, sending him packing for a duck.

Shashank Singh's promising innings was cut short by Virat Kohli's exceptional fielding; a direct hit found him short of his crease.

PBKS vs RCB: Highlights: PBKS Collapse Like a House of Cards

From that point on, PBKS crumbled like a house of cards. Ashutosh Sharma and Sam Curran couldn't find their footing, and the tail-end batsmen offered little resistance.

The entire Punjab lineup was bundled out for a mere 181 in 17 overs, falling short by 60 runs.
