The India versus Pakistan match in the Asia Cup’s Super Four round is about to resume in Colombo after a protracted break due to nonstop rain and a wet outfield. The revised playing conditions will be a 34-over affair, while the match is expected to resume at 9 PM IST, the umpires have confirmed to the host broadcasters.

The second round of the India versus Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2023 had a long halt due to persistent rain at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The Men in Blue had a fiery start after coming to bat first, but they failed to carry on the momentum because of the unpleasant weather conditions.

Earlier in the day, quickfire half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill helped India to post a century-run opening-wicket partnership in a high-voltage Super Four contest. The duo, however, lost their wickets in successive overs, leading Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to rebuild the innings. Before the rain intervened and ruined their progress, they had reached 147/2 in 24.1 overs.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan were among the wickets, while Naseem Shah was the most impressive bowler, having returned superb figures of 5-1-23-0.

What if IND vs PAK gets interrupted again?

As the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) have set a reserve day for the match, the match will continue on Monday (September 11) if the rain arrives again later tonight. However, the overs will not get reduced on the reserve day as things stand.

It is important to note that if India versus Pakistan does not resume tonight, the match will have a 50-over contest on the reserve day.
