Heartbreak For Georgia Voll; Misses Out On First-Ever WPL Century By A Run

On Saturday, March 8, UP Warriorz' Georgia Voll nearly scripted history as she was stranded on 99 in Warriorz' last group-stage match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Stadium. Notably, the Deepti Sharma-led side have crashed out of the tournament, but they played fearless cricket from the first-ball. 

Voll hogged the internet as she came to open the innings with Grace Harris and stitched the highest powerplay score of the season. Georgia refused to slow down and looked to smash the first-ever century in WPL history. On the final ball of the innings, Georgia required 2 runs to enter the three-figures, but missed out as Deepti Sharma fell short of her crease while trying to convert a single into double. 

Voll Smashes Joint-Highest Individual Total In WPL History

It was a heartbreak for Voll as she returned to the pavilion unbeaten on 99 off 56 balls. Her knock featured 17 fours and a solitary six. Further, Voll's 99 is also the joint-highest total in WPL history as Sophie Devine also smashed 99-runs for RCB against Gujarat Giants in 2023 season. Gujarat Giants Pose Highest Total In WPL History

With the brilliant knock by Georgia Voll, UP Warriorz scripted the highest total in the history of WPL. They left Delhi Capitals behind, who held the record after they smashed 223 runs against RCB in 2022. It is worth noting that the ongoing match is a do-or-die match for RCB as a defeat would see them crash out of WPL's race given they are the defending champions.
