Hardik Pandya Turns Nightmare For Prithvi Shaw In SMAT 2024 MUM vs BAR Semi-Final

The thrilling semi-final clash between Mumbai and Baroda witnessed an excellent moment as Hardik Pandya provided his team with the first breakthrough removing Prithvi Shaw for mere eight runs. The SMAT 2024 clash is currently being played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the winner from this game will advance to the final.

Prithvi Shaw Dismissed For 8 Runs

Shaw, who recently went unsold in IPL 2024 auctions, has performed mixed in the tournament. He has slammed 187 runs in the last eight innings, with his personal best of 49 runs off 29 balls in the quarter-final of SMAT 2024 against Vidarbha. In this game, too, Shaw was quick to return to the dug-out as he struggled to get going against the Baroda star performer and succumbed to a good catch by Atit Sheth.

In the third over, Pandya bowled a back of a length delivery a shade outside off, Shaw sat back and went for a pul-shot however was a bit hurried by the pace. He mistimed it straight over the non-striker's head.  Sheth came in running from the mid on towards his left and took a briliant catch. Thus the 30-run opening stand between Shaw and his fellow teammate Ajinkya Rahane was broken as Hardik drew first blood.

Baroda Recover After Early Setback

Meanwhile, earlier in the game, Baroda posted a competitive total of 158/7 in their innings. Despite losing early wickets, including skipper Krunal Pandya for 30 runs, Baroda struggled at 89/5 in the 14th over. However, Shivalik Sharma (36*) and Atit Sheth (22) provided crucial late partnerships as Mumbai's not-so good-looking death bowling allowed Baroda to recover. 

At the time of writing, Mumbai is at 74/1 with Shreyas Iyer and Rahane out in the middle.
