England are locking horns with the West Indies in the second match of the three-match Test series at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The home team started the series on a very strong note as they defeated the visitors in the first match by an innings and 114 runs.

In this match, West Indies won the toss and opted to field first. The visitors started off with a wicket in the first over. Zak Crawley departed for a bronze duck, and that put England on the back foot very early in the match.

However, Ben Duckett was unfazed by the situation and began counter-attacking the West Indian bowlers. He slammed a 32-ball fifty and scored 71 runs off 59 deliveries before being dismissed by Shamar Joseph in the 19th over.

Courtesy of the aggressive approach taken by Duckett, England's innings got back on track, and they were able to post 416 runs before being bundled out in the 89th over. Ollie Pope was the star of the inning as he scored 121 runs from 167 deliveries.

During his stay in the middle, Ben Duckett progressed in the list of most runs in the World Test Championship cycle of 2023-25. At present, Duckett is at the sixth spot on the list of the highest run-getters in the third edition of the WTC. He has scored 738 runs in 21 innings at an average of 35.14 with one century and three half-centuries under his belt.

With this 71 runs knock, Duckett went past the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in the list. Sharma has 700 runs under his belt in this cycle from 16 innings at an average of 46.66. The Indian skipper has scored three centuries and half-centuries so far.

However, Rohit Sharma is expected to go further down the list as he will not be playing Test cricket in the near future. Ben Stokes is breathing on Rohit's shoulders, with 677 runs in this cycle from 27 innings at an average of 32.23.
