Australia may not have had the best of starts in the World Cup 2023, but they have pulled themselves back, winning three games on the trot. David Warner and Adam Zampa are turning out to be the key players in their run to successive wins.

Against the Netherlands today, Warner and Glenn Maxwell smashed blistering tons, which took their total to 399 runs. Meanwhile, Zampa continued his form and picked four wickets through his wily variations.

He has picked three four-wicket hauls in as many games and is now the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 13 wickets in just five outings.

However, Maxwell smashed a record-breaking fastest century off just 40 balls, being adjudged the player of the match.

In the second half, the Aussies managed to bowl out the Dutch for just 90 runs and secured their third win of the tournament. This win of the Aussies, which was by 309 runs, is the biggest victory margin in the history of the ODI World Cups.

Biggest Victory Margins in ICC World Cups

  • Australia- 309 runs vs Netherlands in 2023
  • Australia- 275 runs vs Afghanistan in 2015
  • India- 257 runs vs Bermuda in 2007
  • South Africa- 257 runs vs West Indies in 2015
  • Australia- 256 runs vs Namibia in 2003

With the exceptional performances from all the players, the Aussies have pulled off the biggest win in World Cup history. With hundreds from Warner and Maxwell, fifties from Smith and Labuschagne and Zampa's four-wicket haul, it was indeed a team effort to pull off a win like this.

Pat Cummins and his men are high on confidence as they will move on to their next game, which is against New Zealand on the coming Saturday. They would look to continue the winning momentum and play the same brand of cricket in the latter stage of the tournament.
