For his outstanding performance in both departments, Hussain Talat has been awarded the player of the match award for his impressive spell of 2 for 18 in his three overs, where he grabbed wickets of Sri Lanka's skipper Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka. With the bat, he was magnificent as well, scoring 32* off 30 deliveries in a tense situation where he managed four boundaries in the end, helping Pakistan to victory while remaining unbeaten.

The match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi of the Asia Cup 2025 turned out to be a tense affair between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as both sides sought their first win of the Super 4s stage.
Sri Lanka, after batting first, managed only 133 for the loss of eight wickets after completing their 20 overs. Kamindu Mendis was able to score 50 off 44 deliveries, while there was no other real contribution from anyone else as Sri Lanka were sluggish with the bat, while Pakistan bowlers were right on the spot with the bowling. Shaheen Afridi picked up three wickets in his four overs, while Haris Rauf and Hussain Talat grabbed two apiece.
In reply, the Pakistan innings were off to a decent start, but lost their way in the middle as wickets fell in a cluster. From being 45 for no loss, they were suddenly at 80/5 as the sudden collapse kept them in check.
However, despite that, the duo of Hussain Talat and Muhammad Nawaz did the job, as Pakistan achieved victory in 18 overs with five wickets to spare, winning this crucial encounter with 12 deliveries to spare. Hussain Talat scored 32 not out off 30 balls, while Mohammad Nawaz was magnificent with 38* coming off 24 balls as he struck three maximums and as many boundaries to take Pakistan home. The Sri Lankan spinners were impressive, with Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga grabbing two wickets apiece. At the same time, Dusmantha Chameera could only manage one, but was decent until his last over, where he got gobsmacked for three maximums by Nawaz.
In the end, it was all in Pakistan's favour, who gained crucial points and their first win in the Super 4s stage.
